Author Guidelines

The interdepartmental thematic scientific digest "Animal breeding and genetics" enters the updated List of scientific professional editions of Ukraine in which can be published the results of dissertations (order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine № 409 on March 17, 2020) and is a specialized editon in the field of agricultural sciences, category "B".

Reviews, experimental and methodical articles are accepted for publication. The submitted materials should be actual, original (not published earlier in other editions), stylistically and orthographically edited. Thematically the article should correspond to one of the rubrics of the digest: breeding and selection, genetics, biotechnology, reproduction, conservation of farm animal biodiversity.

By sending an article to the digest "Animal breeding and genetics", the author gives his consent to the placement of published articles in science-citation databases, which will include the publication.

The digest is registered in the international science-citation bases Index Copernicus International and RINC. The electronic version is posted on the portal of the NBUV (V.I. Vernadskyi National Library), on the website http://digest.iabg.org.ua and indexed in Crossref, publishing prefix 10.31073 / ABG (https://abg-journal.com/index.php/journal).

PROCEDURE FOR THE MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

The manuscript of the article should be send to the editorial office in Ukrainian or English with separate file in the format docx to the e-mail irgtvudav@ukr.net and in two paper copies, signed by each author to the postal address of editorial office. Each article is subject to mandatory review. Reviewing process and adhering to editorial ethics is done according to principles, declared by the Committee on publication ethics (COPE, https://publicationethics.org/). If there are any comments from reviewers, the author revises the article, noting in a different color the corrected text in the electronic version of the article (sent to the author by e-mail). After the editorial typesetting, the authors sign the articles for publication. For non-resident authors, the article is signed by the reviewer and the executive secretary.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DESIGNATION OF ARTICLES:

• Volume of experimental and methodical articles (with abstracts and references) – 6-15 pages, survey – not more than 30;
• typing in the Microsoft Word text editor, font Times New Roman, 12, line spacing of the main text is 1, paragraph indentation – 0 cm, A-4 format;
• automatic word transfer;
• captions to figures, tables, and indexes in formulas are typed in 10 pins;
• upper, left and right banks – 20 mm, bottom – 25 mm;
• pages should be book-oriented;
• the tables are typed directly in the Microsoft Word program and are numbered sequentially, the width of the tables is 100%;
• formulas are entered in the editor of formulas Microsoft Equation, available in Word;
• drawings are inserted into the text in JPG format;
• the references are given at the end of the article in the order of mention in the text or in the alphabetical order of authors’ names or sources’ titles. Ordinal numbers of corresponding sources are given in square brackets.

COMPULSORY ARTICLE ELEMENTS

• TITLE OF ARTICLE(bold type in capital letters).
• INITIALS AND SURNAMES OF THE AUTHOR (S)(bold type in capital letters).
• Author(s)’ affilation (s) (if there are several authors and they work in different institutions, it is necessary to mark the institutions with numbers 1, 2, 3… and according to the numbering put numbers next to the authors' names), address (ordinary font).
• Active reference to the ORCID ID of each author.
• E-mail of the corresponding author.
• The main text is preceded by an abstract in Ukrainian and English: the name, initials and surnames of the authors, materials and methods of research, main results and conclusions (7-15 linesin Italics).
• After each abstract, there should be given keywords (5-10 words or phrases in the ordinary font).
• The sections of the articles should begin with the following bolded headings:

Introduction – the statement of the problem in general terms, its relevance and scientific importance; an analysis of the latest foreign and native publications in which the solution of this problem was initiated and on which the author relies; highlighting of previously unsolved parts of the general problem, to which the article is devoted; formulation of the purpose and tasks of research, setting of the task.

• Materials and methods of research – the institutions or enterprises where research was conducted and materials collected; description of the research scheme; number of analyzed samples or investigated animals, methods and techniques used in the work; means and the methods of statistical analysis.
• The results of the research – the presentation of research results, their analysis, discussions and prospects for further scientific investigations.
• Aknowledgements (if necessary) – an expression of official gratitude to certain institutions and individuals who helped to organize and hold research, provided advice for improving the manuscript, etc.
• BIBLIOGRAPHY is given in the order of citation or in alphabetical order of authors’ names or sources’ titles. Bibliographic description of the sources used is provided in accordance with the requirements of the National Standard of Ukraine DSTU 8302: 2015 "Information and documentation. Bibliographic reference. General positions and rules of compilation "(http://lib.pnu.edu.ua/files/dstu-8302-2015.pdf). It is necessary to specify all authors without exception. At least 70% of sources for the last 10 years should be referenced. The number of cited sources should be: for scientific articles - at least 20, for review - 30. Self-citation should not exceed 10%. At least 30% of sources must have a DOI.
• REFERENCES (List of literature) should be submitted as a separate block, which will duplicate the list of sources in the main list, but will be designed according to the requirements of international databases.
• All the sources, which are given in the main list in Cyrillic, should be transliterated, and the name of edition, in which it is published, should be additionally translated in English. Besides it, this list should include the surnames of all the authors without exception. If there is in the list 1 the reference to the forein publication, they are repeated in the 2-nd list, punctuation marks are put according to foreign bibliographic styles.

On the site https://translit.ru/ there is a free opportunity to use the transliteration of Russian text, and on the site http://translit.kh.ua/ – Ukrainian text in Latin. The programs are very simple, they are easy to use for both prepared links and transliteration of different parts of descriptions. By choosing BGN system as an option, we get an image of all the appropriate letters. Insert in the special field the whole text of the bibliography in Russian and click "In translit", in the second program the text in Ukrainian – "Convert". Then make the necessary changes and additions.

Each source in the bibliography and references is accompanied by a DOI if it is assigned to the referenced article.

TO ARTICLE SHOULD BE ADDED:

• Extended summary of the article in the original language and in English (minimum 4000 characters) for the Web site of the digest. The summary must be structured, contain the purpose of the study and the methods applied, the main results obtained and conclusions. Extended article summary is posted on the site free of charge!
• Information about theauthor(s): surname, name, middle name, scientific degree, academic rank, position and place of work, contact phone number, e-mail, ORCID ID code of each author. If the author is not registered in ORCID, one need to create an account at http://orcid.org.

The editorial office of the scientific digest is not responsible for the content of the articles and the significance of the data provided, but reserves the right to select, recommend and comment on the content of the materials submitted. Articles that are arranged not according to the rules are not registered and considered.
